Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its latest budget-friendly smartphone, the Redmi A3, in India on February 14th. The company has already lifted the veil on some key details about the upcoming device.

The Xiaomi Redmi A3 Arrives in India on February 14 with a 90Hz Display and Increased RAM

Just a few days ago, we got a sneak peek at the Redmi A3 through some live images. One of the standout features highlighted on the box was its 6.71-inch 90Hz display. Indeed, Xiaomi's landing page on mi.com emphasizes the "butter-smooth" 90Hz refresh rate. While this may sound a bit exaggerated, it's worth noting that the Redmi A-series is known for offering budget-friendly options in the Android market.

In addition to the display upgrade, Xiaomi is also bumping up the RAM to 6GB, with an additional 6GB of virtual RAM. This is a step up from the 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage listed on the leaked box, indicating that Xiaomi is introducing a new tier for the Redmi A3. Previously, the Redmi A2+ maxed out at 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, starting at a mere 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

There's more to the upgrades – while the battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh, Xiaomi has opted for USB-C charging this time around, a departure from the microUSB used in the A2/A2+. However, details about the charging speed have not been disclosed, so we can only assume it will stick to the standard 10W.

The leaked images also showcased the Redmi A3's new design, featuring a massive circular camera island. Xiaomi is dubbing this the "All-New Premium Halo Design", hinting at a fresh aesthetic approach for the device.

As for pricing, Xiaomi is keeping that information tightly under wraps for now. We'll have to wait until next week to find out the official pricing details. To put things into perspective, the Redmi A2 was priced at ₹6,300 for the 2GB/32GB variant and ₹8,500 for the 4GB/128GB variant (though initially, this was the price of the 4GB/64GB model, with the 4GB/128GB version replacing it a few months later). While the Redmi A3 is set to debut in India first, Xiaomi has hinted that it will be available in other regions as well, though specifics regarding its global availability are yet to be revealed.
