Leaked Details Suggest Garmin Forerunner 165 to Feature AMOLED Display and Elevate V4 Sensor

It’s been nearly three years since Garmin released the Forerunner 55, and it looks like an upgrade might finally be on the horizon. The folks over at Fitness Tracker Test have stumbled upon some details about its successor, tentatively named the Forerunner 165, on Garmin's official website.

Leaked Details Suggest Garmin Forerunner 165 to Feature AMOLED Display and Elevate V4 Sensor

While we don’t have any images yet, the leaks spill the beans on almost everything about the upcoming watch. Let's take a closer look!

Garmin Forerunner 165 Specs (Rumored)

According to reports, the Forerunner 165 is expected to boast a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. This marks a significant improvement from the 1.04-inch LCD screen found on its predecessor, the Forerunner 55. However, it seems this upgrade might come at a cost to its battery life.

While the Forerunner 55 could go for a solid two weeks on a single charge, the leaked information suggests that the Forerunner 165 will only last for 11 days in smartwatch mode.

Once you kick on the GPS, that drops to 19 hours, and if you activate GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), it dwindles further to 17 hours. If you decide to jam out to some tunes while using GNSS, be prepared for a runtime of just 6.5 hours.

Moreover, the leak hints at the possibility of two models for the Forerunner 165 — the standard version and the Forerunner 165 Music edition.

The latter will come equipped with built-in storage for music playback via Bluetooth headphones, albeit with a limited capacity of 4GB. Additionally, only the Music variant is rumored to support Wi-Fi connectivity.

Health and Wellness Features

In terms of health and wellness functionalities, the watch is rumored to sport the Elevate V4 PPG sensor for tracking heart rate variability and a barometric altimeter for measuring altitude. It's also said to be capable of counting the number of floors you've climbed.

Furthermore, the smartwatch is expected to offer other standard health features like an internal compass, sleep tracking with Nap Detection, and SpO2 monitoring.

Price

While official pricing and release date details are still under wraps, the leak suggests that the standard Forerunner 165 might hit the market at around €280 (approximately $225), while the Music version could be priced at €330 (roughly $355).

In conclusion, if these rumors hold true, the Garmin Forerunner 165 could be a compelling upgrade for fitness enthusiasts looking for enhanced features and performance in their wearable devices.
